Album Rock & Metal Yang Rilis Maret 2012

Bulan Maret 2012 akan menjadi bulan yang penuh dengan rilisan album- album metal terbaru dari band – band yang familiar di kalangan para fans. Tak kurang dari EPICA, SOULFLY, CANNIBAL CORPSE sampai MESHUGGAH akan melepaskan album terbarunya pada bulan Maret 2012.

 

EPICA. Band symphonic metal asal negeri Belanda ini akan merilis album terbarunya “Requiem For The Indifferent” pada 9 Maret 2012 di Eropa via Nuclear Blast Records sementara rilis di Amerika dilakukan dua hari setelahnya. Album kelima Mark Jansen dkk ini direkam pada 7 September hingga 17 November 2011 di Gate Studio, Wolfsburg, Jerman. Sascha Paeth, produser yang pernah membidani album Kamelot, Avantasia dan Rhapsody Of Fire dihadirkan untuk menggarap album baru EPICA ini. Nuclear Blast Records akan merilis album baru EPICA pada 9 Maret 2012 di Eropa dan dua hari kemudian di Amerika. Sementara Artworknya digarap oleh Stephan Heilemann dari Heilemannia, Jerman. Sebuah single berjudul “Storm The Sorrow” sudah dirilis oleh EPICA pada 3 Februari 2012.

13 adalah angka sial? Well, check this out, guys, it might change your perspective on the number 13. Karena tanggal 13 menjadi tanggal paling seru dalam bulan Maret 2012. Ada 3 band yang akan merilis album barunya pada 13 Maret 2012. Mereka adalah SOULFLY dengan album “Enslaved”, CANNIBAL CORPSE dengan album “Torture” dan supergrup yang dihuni Mike Portnoy, ADRENALINE MOB dengan debut album “Omerta”.

SOULFLY merekam “Enslaved” di Tallcat Studios di Phoenix, Arizona dan Frick'In Studios di California sepanjang September – November 2011. Max Cavalera bertindak sebagai co-produser bersama Chris “Zeuss” Harris. Zeuss antara lain pernah menggarap album – album Shadows Fall, Hatebreed. All That Remains dan Agnostic Front. Sementara artworknya digarap oleh Marcelo Vasco yang juga menggarap artwork album terbaru Borknagar “Urd” (2012). Roadrunner Records menjadi label yang merilis album baru Max Cavalera dkk ini. Sebuah single berjudul “World Scum” sudah dirilis oleh SOULFLY pada 25 Januari 2012.

CANNIBAL CORPSE, jagoan death metal asli New York juga melakukan rilis rekaman terbarunya “Torture” pada 13 Maret 2012 via Metal Blade Records. “Torture” direkam pada September – Oktober 2011 di dua studio yaitu Sonic Ranch Studios di Tornillo, Texas dan Mana Recording Studio di St. Petersburg, Florida. Erik Rutan, personil Hate Eternal sekaligus orang yang pernah menjadi produser album CANNIBAL CORPSE sebelumnya “Kill” (2006) dan “Evisceration Plague” (2009) kembali digandeng menjadi produser untuk album terbaru ini. Sementara artworknya dikerjakan oleh Vincent Locke yang sudah kerap mengerjakan artwork album CANNIBAL CORPSE. Sebuah lead single berjudul “Demented Aggression” sudah dirilis oleh Alex Webster dkk pada 17 Januari 2012.

Mike portnoy dan band barunya ADRENALINE MOB akan merilis album perdananya “Omerta” pada 13 Maret 2012. “Omerta” berisi 11 lagu dan diproduseri sendiri oleh Mike Portnoy dkk, namun mixingnya dilakukan oleh Jay Ruston yang sebelumnya juga melakukan mixing untuk album terbaru Anthrax “Worship Music” (2011). “Omerta” akan dirilis oleh Elm City Music, sebuah label baru hasil gagasan Michael Caplan, seorang eksekutif musik yang lama bekerja di Sony Music Entertainment. Sebuah single berjudul “Undaunted” sudah dirilis oleh ADRENALINE MOB pada 9 Januari 2012. Baru - baru ini mereka juga mempublikasikan dua lagu baru lainnya.

Melangkah ke tanggal berikutnya, sepuluh hari kemudian ada band experimental metal asal Swedia, MESHUGGAH yang akan melepas rekaman barunya berjudul “Koloss” pada 23 Maret 2012 di Jerman. Setelahnya akan dirilis di daratan Eropa pada 26 Maret 2012 dan di Amerika Utara pada 27 Maret 2012, semuanya lewat Nuclear Blast Records. “Kolos” digarap sendiri oleh MESHUGGAH sebagai produsernya. Sementara artworknya adalah karya seniman Russia Luminokaya. Sebuah lead single berjudul “Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion” sudah dirilis oleh Tomas Haake dkk pada 14 Februari 2012.

Lanjut ke tanggal berikutnya, ada band progressive black metal asal Norwegia, BORKNAGAR yang akan merilis album terbarunya “Urd” pada 26 Maret 2012. “Urd” adalah album kesembilan BORKNAGAR. Album ini direkam di Fascination Street Studios, Örebro, Swedia bersama produser Jens Bogren, orang yang juga menjadi produser album baru Kreator. Seniman Brazil Marcelo Vasco ketiban tugas membuat artworknya. Marcelo Vasco juga yang mendesain artwork album BORKNAGAR sebelumnya, “Universal” (2010).Century Media Records akan merilis "Urd" di Eropa dan Amerika Utara. Sebuah single berjudul “Roots” sudah dilepas oleh BORKNAGAR pada 10 Februari 2012.

Sehari setelah BORKNAGAR merilis album barunya, band speed/power metal asal Kanada 3 INCHES OF BLOOD menyusul merilis garapan terbarunya “Long Live Heavy Metal”. Album ini digarap bersama produser Terry “Sho” Murray. Terry Murray adalah orang yang juga menggarap EP 3 INCHES OF BLOOD “Anthem For The Victorious” (2011). Sementara artworknya digarap oleh Kim Thiessen. “Long Live Heavy Metal” akan dirilis pada 27 Maret 2012 via Century Media Records. Sebuah single berjudul “Leather Lord” sudah dirilis oleh Justin Hagberg dkk pada 5 Februari 2012. Beberapa hari lalu mereka juga meluncurkan track kedua "Dark Messenger".

Satu band senior yang juga akan merilis album barunya pada 27 Maret 2012 adalah OVERKILL. Jagoan thrash metal asal pantai timur Amerika ini akan melepas album keenam belasnya “The Electric Age” pada 27 Maret 2012. OVERKILL telah mulai menggarap album “The Electric Age” pada pertengahan 2011 dan selesai pada Januari 2012. “The Electric Age” direkam di Gain Studios, New Jersey. Ini merupakan album keenam belas OVERKILL. Album ini akan dirilis pada 27 Maret 2012 via E1 Music di Ameriks dan 30 Maret 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records di Eropa. Sebuah lagu baru mereka berjudul “Electric Rattlesnake” muncul di internet pada 24 Februari 2012.

Kalau rilisan – rilisan di atas masih dirasa kurang, masih ada beberapa band lagi yang juga akan merilis album baru atau materi non album pada Maret 2012. Band metalcore EVERY TIME I DIE akan merilis album terbarunya “Ex Lives” pada 6 Maret 2012. Beberapa hari yang lalu mereka merilis sebuah klip baru berjudul “Revival Mode”. “Revival Mode” merupakan klip kedua dari album “Ex Lives”. Sebelumnya mereka sudah merilis klip “Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space” pada Januari 2012.Album “Ex Lives” diproduseri oleh Joe Baressi yang juga pernah menggarap album Queens Of The Stone Age. “Ex Lives” akan dirilis via Epitaph Records.

Band industrial metal MINISTRY juga akan melepas rekaman terbaru mereka “Relapse” pada penghujung bulan Maret 2012. “Relapse” merupakan album yang mengakhiri masa hiatus/break MINISTRY selama tiga tahun sejak 2008 hingga 2011. “Relapse” akan dirilis pada 30 Maret 2012 via 13^th Planet Records. MINISTRY telah merilis sebuah single berjudul “99%” pada 23 Desember 2011 untuk mempromosikan album baru ini.

Band technical death metal asal Jerman OBSCURA akan merilis kompilasi demo – demo mereka yang berjudul “Illegimitation”. Kumpulan demo ini memuat 10 lagu yang belum pernah dirilis sebelumnya, yaitu lagu – lagu dari demo OBSCURA tahun 2003 (sebelum rilis album pertama “Retribution” tahun 2004), lagu – lagu dari demo untuk album kedua “Cosmogenesis” yang direkam pada 2006 dan tiga lagu cover version dari Death, Atheist dan Cynic. "Illegimitation" akan dirilis secara independen, langsung dari OBSCURA kepada fans, lengkap dengan paket booklet yang berisi sejarah band serta kumpulan foto yang belum pernah dipublikasikan sebelumnya.

Bulan Maret 2012 cukup "metal" dengan rilisan beberapa album baru yang killer. Seorang fan/penggemar yang asli adalah yang tahu bagaimana sebuah karya seni diperlakukan. Epica Band Biography

After the monumentally massive splendour of The Phantom Agony (2003), Epica is now releasing the majestic successor Consign to Oblivion. On this album, for the greater part inspired by the Mayan culture, the group round mezzo-soprano Simone Simons and guitarist Mark Jansen break new ground. One thing, however, has not disappeared: the scintillating allure and rapture of the Epica sound. New is the enhanced accessibility and variety of the compositions (ranging from unadulterated gothic-metal to ballads). Mark Jansen: "This album marks Epica's growth into maturity. This is the album that I have always wanted to make. Now we've finally had the opportunity and the capacity to realize a project like this."

With the cinematic album prologue Hunab K'u 'A New Age Dawns', the tone is set. Together with the Epica Orchestra (an eight piece string orchestra) and the Epica Choir (six men/women strong) the Advent of a New Dawn is announced (Hunab K'u means 'The Origin of the Universe' in the Mayan language), subsequent to which, accompanied by thundering rolls of drummer Jeroen Simons, Dance of Fate bursts out. A dazzling piece of epic bombast, and with admonitory choir lyrics the Latin words proclaim: 'Novas portas pandamus, et post nos occudamus' (or in English: 'we should open new doors and close the ones that we've left behind'). Mark Jansen: "Call Consign to Oblivion a bombastic album for all we care. We have never had any problems with the word bombast. Epica makes subtle bombast and I am proud of that." As in so many of the songs on Consign to Oblivion, the fire of metal is linked here to the power of spherical arrangements, which are inspired by scores. Mark Jansen: "We have a great admiration for people such as Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman. They are the major composers of the great Hollywood films of this era. The sound of Epica is a combination of scores and elements from metal and rock."

Also beautiful is the manner in which Simone Simons opens up her soul and allows us to share her feelings on the displacement and alienation of a musician's life in the subdued ballad Solitary Ground. The delicate red-headed singer from Limburg sings on Consign to Oblivion with a grace and conviction which only highlights her undeniable star-appeal even more. Also, her dramatic duet with Roy Khan, singer of Kamelot, in Trois Vierges, which was written for the film Joyride, adds an extra dimension to the album.

 The title of the album Consign to Oblivion refers to the Mayan culture. Their culture has literally been consigned to oblivion in the history of mankind more times than we care to remember, and yet there are always new people who take an interest in the philosophies and pieces of wisdom of the Mayan people. The fascination with the Mayan culture will never cease, whereas the Mayan people themselves already disappeared from the face of the earth a great many centuries ago. However, they did leave behind a great many prophecies, also about the times in which we live. The longest cycle of their time system comes to an end in the year 2012. Hence: A New Age Dawns. The Mayan people did not leave behind an unequivocal picture of what would happen after that date, causing this year to acquire a certain magical character. I have become convinced that anyone with an open mind will be able to achieve a higher level of consciousness come the year 2012. The growth to a higher dimension. Just take a look at all the people who are engaged in spirituality these days… Various songs have been built around this theme. Such as The Last Crusade, that is about the final convulsions of Christianity, which according to Mark Jansen has had its time and will soon be replaced by new forms of spirituality. Or Another Me 'In Lack'ech' about the Mayan perception that every wrong you bring on someone else will return back to you like a boomerang. For Mark explains: "You are another me. All people are interconnected." But there are also a great many songs about other subjects than the Mayan culture. Singer Simone wrote the lyrics for these. Simone Simons: "Force of the Shore is about people who are only concerned about their appearance and do not get around to the essence of life. People who hide their inner selves behind a mask." And Quietus? Simone: "That literally means the coup de grâce. The song is about the choices life offers to us. Sometimes they are the choices of life and death. Every person must bear the consequences of those choices, however difficult that may be at times. Dance of Fate deals with a similar theme. Simone: "Some of us try to defy these consequences, but there is no avoiding them."

With all this spirituality in the lyrics, we should not lose sight of how tautly, torridly and overwhelmingly Epica carries on musically on Consign to Oblivion. The rhythm section (with Yves Huts on bass) couples sheer power with suppleness, the guitar riffs of Mark Jansen and Ad Sluijter pound away razor sharp, whereas the keyboards of Coen Janssen excel both in power and atmosphere. Also, we should not forget Mark's excruciating grunts, which work so wonderfully contrastive to Simone's beautiful soprano. On Consign to Oblivion Epica show themselves as an imposing and tightly-knit rock machine with almost Wagnerian power, proving in all aspects why the group is counted as the vanguard of international gothic-metal scene in the category female fronted. A glorious new album by a great group!
